It is a bit like the dotcom-bubble and the web 2.0 hype…
The real money was not earned with the business itself, but rather with dreaming up a cool thing and heading for the exit.

Transmedia right now seems to be at the same point right now in a way.
Innovative businessmodels are not really established enough to work on a broader basis and the traditional roads need to be traveled in that aspect.

Best business in transmedia right now seems to be a consultant. Do not get us wrong here, we are not judging, just observing.
And cosultants are also very much needed right now as helpers along the way to sustainable transmedia.

But we wanted to share more than one manifesto, so here is two more of them. And we will post even more, because in our mind, the trick is in seeing what knowledge sticks to your particular project and can be beneficial for that.

The first one to share is even called transmedia manifest and it is laying out eleven theses. Check them out here

The next one are some insights by Thomas Mai and you do not have to read, you can watch

Martin Luther had 95 theses….The trend nowadays seems to be more retro than that and is more in tune with Moses.
That can be observed. The rest…ovserve yourself

Most probably you all know Michel Reilhac´s 1o transmandments.
If not, they go as follows:

1.) Thou will collaborate

2.) Thou shall focus on the story

3.) Thou shall embrace the game culture

4.) Thou shall earn trust

5.) The interface thou shall question

6.) Thou shall focus on the social flow

7.) Thou shall value events

8.) Thou shall spend great time and energy

9.) Thou shall be fair when blending reality and fiction

10.) Thou shall change the world
And in case you did not know, there even is an eleventh: Tou shall build your spectator as your main character.

The 10 being 11 part is a bit like The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy Trilogy, but besides that it is a fairly descriptive breakdown of lessons learned.
- Even if you argue about the bibical reference and the implied dogmatism.
As we all learned, there is no more definite formular how to make things work; only adapting techniques to your particular story´s needs can work for you.
The people formerly known as the audience are not stupid and will punish you, if you try to con them with cheap tricks.

We subjected our supported projects of our 2nd call to a quick-check against Michel´s transmandments to doublecheck both: his concepts and our projects.
And we can say that they all hold more or less true, but need to be very much adjusted to fit the definitions within the projects.

When talking about transmedia and how it is changing things, looking at the 10 advices above, one thing sticks out:

ONE THING HAS NEVER CHANGED AND NEVER WILL:

THE STORY IS EVERYTHING.
Best strategies, big budgets, nothing can help you, if your story is bad. The audience will find out…

Luckily our projects have great stories. More about them soon as we believe in sharing and collaborating.

Hi all,

as one of our outcomes of the research into the particular needs of audiovisual clusters, please have a look at this short video introducing our handbook on cluster landscapes, aimed at cluster managers as a hands-on tool to further improve their clusters. It was developed by Filmby Aarhus and The Alexandra Institute, based on First Motion research done together with Innovation Centre HTA Lodz.

There is a printed version available through us, if you get in touch, a pdf for download and also the handbook does have an interactive part on www.clusterlandscapes.com.
You can also read it online here

What is the value of a short film? That was the question being asked in a seminar in Grimstad, Norway on Thursday June 16th.
First Motion, the Norwegian Film Institute, Filmkraft Rogaland and Norgesfilm invited to a seminar and consultation with producers and makers of short films. The goal was to present new market oportunities caused by the digitization, as well as to receive valuable feedback on what producers and filmmakers really need when it comes to distribution and availability of short films.
From First Motion Bernd Günter Nahm was speaking about the importance of training the new talents to think markets and to think international. -Coming from Schleswig-Holstein I know all about being in the geographical outskirts of the media industry, but that should just give us the incentive to think new and big in terms of cooperation across the borders when it comes to production of short films, Mr Nahm said.
Mr. Sjur Paulsen from Filmkraft Rogaland in Norway emphasized the need for the short film makers to think more commercially from the very beginning of a project. -I believe short film is the format of the future, he said, adding -with all the new platforms and channels, the demand for shorter formats that fit in with the general consumer trends will only grow.

(Well whatever it is, it was done by Temujin Doran)

It is not yet transmedia or particular crossmedia, but I wonder whether LEGO is already working on the augmented reality app for everybodies favorite smartphone where you can superimpose some prefabricated lego stuff on reality and snap your own pictures…
Or maybe even have somebody do some brick movies with LEGO and publish them, so people can use them in-app to do their own mixedmedia shorts…
Of course you would have to interlink this with some social-media platform, build a community around it and voila, there you have a direct line to all the dedicated, creative LEGO freaks worldwide…
