• First Motion: Projects of 1st call successfully under way The seven most creative crossmedia projects, supported by First Motion after its first call in 2010, were awarded an initial funding for design and development, part-financed by the EU. Part of the project teams’ task was to not only get their ideas off the ground but also explore business strategies and means of distribution. By 2012, the projects are well under way; the work steps supported by First Motion have been concluded. • First Motion at German-Russian documentary film days in KaliningradFrom 22nd to 24th April 2012 the German-Russian documentary film days “Territorium Film” will take place in Kaliningrad for the second time. “Territorium Film” is a joint project between the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein and the Kaliningrad region aiming for drawing interest on documentaries in the neighbourly regions.This year, First Motion is going to participate actively. Firstly, Bernd-Günther Nahm from Filmfund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and Ilze Gailite-Holmberga from National Film Centre of Latvia will present an overview on the experiences and outcomes of two years work in First Motion. Secondly, the 52 min. documentary film FISH & ONIONS by Marc Brummund, Bettina Herzner and Rene Fischer will be screened. The film shows the life situation of Russian Old-Believers at the shore of Lake Peipus, Estonia, in the far North-Eastern corner of the European Union. It was supported in its development as part of a cross media project by First Motion in 2010.
