What’s the idea of the project?

On occasion of the Danish First Motion contribution, Ja Film’s animated sci-fi comedy/drama NUMBER ONE about the small players in a large intergalactical game, the Aarhus based production company understood that they – as other SME animation studios - need a new business and production model, if they want continue working on the quality level they did before. That meant to invent a new production work flow which is more time and money saving than the classical rigging tools and animation techniques as well as their time consuming and costly possibilities for a high quality project like NUMBER ONE – taking in mind changing viewing behaviours and re-financing modes.

So they developed a cross media inspired production, distribution and marketing idea which is amongst others based on the combination of existing controllers with custom attributes: the JESUS RIG, a single rigging tool for minimizing repetitive tasks during the animation of multiple characters. The hands-on and user friendly JESUS RIG combines several basic controllers and rigs for a differentiated creation and flexible customising process of animated characters.

With the support of First Motion Ja Film made its “first motion” into a time and money saving production and distribution of medium and large animation projects.
 

What are the latest developments?

Through First Motion Ja Films new internal animation pipeline developed a short documentary describing the JESUS system in the fall of 2010.
